The reason and the purpose of the meeting

The meeting was organised according to the original project plan.
Its main goal was to discuss and arrange tasks concerning each partner, respectively, as well as to make clear the consequences of the reduced project budget (e.g. dropping some items of the original plan etc.). Although the project plan as a whole (including expected results and products) was reviewed, discussions were mainly focused on the questions of the first and second stages of the three-year co-operation (WP1, WP2).

Main results of the meeting

  1. Interchanging information of the partners' work done for the time being and concluding the consequences of related practical experiences.
  2. Deciding the objectives, dates and venues for the subsequent meetings to be organised during the project life.
Comment: Since the Dutch partner revealed their rich experience in VLE practice the partners asked to include a meeting in the Netherlands in the programme as it was originally planned in the project proposal but dropped due to financial reduction on travel costs.
  3. Acceptance of the Dutch partner's proposal for rearranging some items within its own 'Subcontracting' budget category. (The desired translation costs can be gained from the 'dissemination' sub-category.)
  4. The aim of partners' report (oral presentation) was to outline the present institutional situation as regards Virtual Learning Environment incl. the possibilities for preparing and improving electronic teaching-learning materials in accordance with the necessary curriculum development. (Each partner.)
  5. Task for each partner: preparing and composing an Initial Report (a written summary) of Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) Usage as regards its own country (WP 2 Task b.). The main nation-specific features of VLE usage and development will be discussed at the Tampere meeting in September 2003.
  6. Evaluating experiences gained during the present and former co-operation.
  7. Visiting Huddersfield University to make its VLE research and practical experiences known.
  8. Participants' thanks and appreciation to the host partner for the excellent, well-organised and fruitful opening project meeting.
