UNIVERSITY OF HUDDERSFIELD - UNIVERSITY OF HUDDERSFIELD

The School of Education and Professional Development in the University of Huddersfield has been training technical and further education teachers for over 50 years, and approximately 30,000 men and women with a wide range of subject knowledge have prepared, through a mixture of formal and informal student-centred learning methods, to convert their technical expertise and experience into teaching skills. An in-service vocational teacher education provision is delivered in a consortium of colleges and training providers across the north of England. The School also offers many professional development programmes including the application of communications and information technology to education and training. It also has links with a wide network of institutions, both within Europe and world-wide.
The role of the University will be to provide knowledge of and access to vocational teacher education programmes through the large network of UK in-service training providers. In addition, the institution will contribute expertise in staff development for educationally effective use of virtual learning environments, in particular utilising expertise in the VLE, "Blackboard". The English partner will also make significant contributions to project planning, management, evaluation, and dissemination of results.
