Course implementation - Common module delivery

  • Aims:
    • to facilitate communication and collaboration between students of the partner institutions
    • to provide opportunities for experience of various CMC and online learning systems
    • to generate comparative data on the usability of a number of VLEs
  • Duration:
    1 March 2004 - 30 June 2005
  • Working methods and techniques:
The main parameters of these tasks will be discussed in the 3rd project group meeting, but it is envisaged that module delivery will involve collaboration between students of partner institutions by means of guest access to VLEs of different types in each country. Tasks b., c. and e. will therefore be carried out by the teams of the vocational teacher training institutions. P3, P5 and P6 will monitor the situation and provide feedback. Electronic based teaching materials will be prepared and learning strategies will be observed by ITT institution staff. Partners with students will monitor VLE activity.
  • Dissemination forms:
    • Discussions in meetings (project group meetings 3, 4 and 5, and national level meetings)
    • Students' reflections on learning using VLEs, published on the project website
    • E-mail (using the distribution list)
  • Quality management:
The realisation of the curriculum developments will necessitate quality assurance methods connected with the implementation of modules and the evaluation of results.
    Implementation
    • The implementation phases of project results will be carefully scheduled.
    • The practice of implementation will be audited externally.
    • Indications for further modification will be the outcome of the implementation feeding into the final stages of the project.
    Evaluation of results
    • Internal evaluation of the impact and transfer potential of the project results will take place whenever new results are available.
    • External monitoring will ensure the results are adequate for larger scale transfer and dissemination, and further publication as appropriate.
  • Outcomes:
    • User evaluation reports
    • Detailed research data on VLE usage
    • Modified teaching materials and module specifications
    • Case study data for the "Electronic Learning Strategy"
